Tackle the bias that has been perpetrated against women by creating unity, self-worth, and raising awareness on mental health in our youthful community.
How We Will Accomplish Our Goal...
We will create a women’s empowerment conference that is intended to address safety, how we represent ourselves, and the decisions that affect our mental health and wellness. In this conference, we will encourage healthy dialogue around self-care and explore sensitive topics that we are sometimes shamed for when talked about.
Because......
Our school lacks in culture, and the student body can benefit from having a safe space. In general, our students often suffer from having a low-self esteem and the stresses that education can bring. Addressing health and wellness needs, will allow us to be educated on how to reduce stress levels and have an understanding of how to support one another. By being mindful of our needs, we can better accomplish our obligations.
As a school, we are limited in the number of events that are held. Despite some efforts, the student turnout rate is usually very low. This only tells us that we lack in schools unity, and culture.
How We Know This Will Help...
Beginning with Freshman year, it is common that young scholars feel outcasted, inferior, and vulnerable. The transition is challenging to adapt to. With time, scholars are challenged with a different workload all while trying to find themselves and deal with their insecurities. Currently, our school hosts pep rallies to encourage unity across grade levels, but it is still a work in progress. Even with summer bridge efforts, our students have a difficult experience with navigating high school.
